  • Abstract [Abstract] Excessive recreational noise exposure in young adults might result in noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus. Inducing behavioral change in young adults is one of the aims of a hearing conservation program. The goal of the current study was to evaluate noise levels in college students during an indoor live concert as a recreational activity. The results of noise measurements showed that the average noise level based on the A-weighted measurements was 83.6 dB with a range of 74.7-91.3 dB. The equivalent noise level (Leq) was 78.7 dB(A). Regarding the C-weighted noise measurements, the average value was 94.6 dB(C) with a range between 73.0 and 103.9 dB(C). The Leq for the C-weighted measurements was 100.0 dB(C). These results support the need for ongoing hearing conservation programs to educate students about the dangers of excessive exposure to loud music.
