  • Other We described the nests of Japanese Tit Parus minor and Varied Tit Sittiparus varius collected in Toyama Outdoor Nature Museum “Nei no sato”, Toyama. The all nests were mostly made of pleurocarpus mosses. As nesting major materials, the wide type of mosses were preferred by Parus minor, the fine type of mosses were preferred by Sittiparus varius. The nests of Parus minor tend to be used much animal fur over the ones of Sittiparus varius, a large quantity of fur would prove the nest to be built by Parus minor. Other than the above, we couldn’t find the nest materials or the characters that distinguish correctly between the two species of birds.
  • Other シジュウカラとヤマガラの巣を富山県自然博物園ねいの里に設置された巣箱から採取し、巣の外観や巣材を調べた。すべての巣は、匍匐性蘚類で主に作られていた。主な巣材として、シジュウカラの巣には幅の広い蘚類、ヤマガラの巣には細い蘚類がよく使われている傾向があった。シジュウカラの巣にはヤマガラよりも獣毛が頻度高く使われ、獣毛の量が多ければ、シジュウカラが営巣した巣であると言えそうである。本研究からは、シジュウカラとヤマガラの巣を間違いなく判別する巣材や特徴は、獣毛以外で見つけられなかった。
