Description	Other The Gushikenki written in the Edo period appears to be known as the only architectural reference book dealing with architectural quantitative survey by the mean of mathematical knowledge. However, a few early Japanese mathematical books written before the Gushikenki contain knowleges relative to mathematical means of architechtural quantitative survey. We intend to examine the contents of the Gushikenki in comparison with those of the early mathematical books and to clarify the mathematical background of the Gushikenki.
