鹿児島大学の学生海外研修支援事業として、医学部保健学科学部生５名が米国での研修を行った。サンフランシスコ大学看護学部を拠点として、へき地医療の現場や関連病院を訪問した。大学における看護学講義の聴講、演習への参加、さらに現地学生や医療専門職との交流やディスカッションを通じて、米国の医療・看護制度の実情を学ぶと同時に、多くの学びがあった。その成果として、今回は、米国における看護教育とナースプラクティショナーの活動について報告する。

As a student overseas training support project of Kagoshima University, five undergraduates students of the School of Health Sciences in the Faculty of Medicine were trained in the United States. They visited the University of San Francisco, affiliated hospitals and rural health care facilities and learned about the health care system and nursing education through the experience of attending lectures and seminars and participating in the simulation of nursing skills and discussions with the students and health care professionals. Nursing education and the activities of nurse practitioners in the United States are reported.
