In this paper, we discuss several analytical methods to obtain payload size which maximizes goodput for lossy low-speed wireless networks in case of timeout value exceeding round trip time. We show that the values obtained from an approximate model where packet corruption probability is approximately expressed by an exponential function meet well with those from an exact model, and the values obtained from an approximate closed-form yield a large error.
