  • Other en From the later Middle Ages to the early Edo era - the later part of sixteen century, was constructed the castle whitch the greatest one in Satsuma-Han. Its city planning was regular on a large scale. In other areas were lots of Buke's (Samurai's) settlement all over Satsuma-Han. The settlement was called Fumoto whitch consists of Buke's houses, the public office and open space in its front. Fumoto's planning was characterized by a great variety of the main route and Streets. There were Buke's house built along the main route and some streets, and these drawing rooms located in the nearest front of the main route and some streets. The great Fumoto's number was 113 areas in the Edo era. Seventeen Buke's houses were examined in five Fumotos - Kaseda Fumoto, Tarumizu Fumoto, Shimizu Fumoto, Kokubu Fumoto, Shikine Fumoto. On the result, the drawing room was opened in two sides in which there were verandas and the center beam of roof was supported in the length of 4.924 meters (2.5 ken). These are thought the principle form of Buke's houses. The form was consisted of two types. One type of Buke's house was considered that the ridge beam was made a right angle with the street and another type maintained the ridge beam in parallel with the street.
